Why I Started T2 Coaching
I grew up as a competitive swimmer in Colorado — the kind of athlete who thrives in structured, demanding environments. When a relay partner dropped out of a local triathlon in the early 90s, I decided on a whim that I could do the whole thing myself. I was right. I was also hooked.
In 1997 I completed my first Ironman. I was obsessed. Training became consuming. Within a year, I was barely able to walk without losing my breath. Classic overtraining syndrome — and the kind of mistake that ends careers. It almost ended mine.
Recovery took longer than I want to admit. But it taught me something no textbook can: what it actually feels like to destroy your body chasing a goal, and how to rebuild intelligently. I applied that knowledge to my own training, made it back to the start line, and in 2008 won the Overall Amateur title at the Kona World Championship.
That win wasn't about my genetics. It was about finally training with structure, intention, and a genuine understanding of recovery. I started T2 Coaching because I didn't want another athlete to learn those lessons the hard way.
Twenty-five years later, I've coached more than 520 athletes across Sprint, Olympic, 70.3, and full Ironman distances. I still race — ultras, triathlons, whatever challenges me — because I believe a great coach never stops being an athlete.

Three principles.
Zero compromise.
Individualization over templates
Every athlete gets a plan built from scratch. Your body, your schedule, your race, your goals — none of it should come from a spreadsheet someone else made.
Data-informed, athlete-led
Numbers matter, but so does feel. Wendy reads your logs, your feedback, and your energy. Science guides the structure; you guide the direction.
Sustainable progress, not burnout
Wendy learned this the hard way. Overtraining nearly ended her career in the late 90s. Every plan she builds is designed to keep you healthy enough to race — and love it.
